The FMS Story
In the industrial midlands of late 19th century England, many people spent their working lives underground toiling in the coal mines. The daily physical trauma resulted in cuts, abrasions and burns.
Dr. Stewart, a local GP, found it was difficult to treat patients successfully with what was available, so he began a quest to find a solution, a skin cream that would both calm and soothe.
After years of investigation and testing he finally formulated a salve that proved to be a “miracle cream”.
After his death Dr Stewart’s granddaughter, Florence Mary, found the formula and once again started production.
Miss Hilda Jones, Florence’s friend, outlines how she too became involved with the “Miracle Cream”.
Florence Mary Stewart began searching for her grandfathers books to find the recipe for his famous ointment. Eventually she found it and began production of the “Miracle Cream”.
Like her grandfather Florence used the cream locally with great success. Florence was advised to put it on the market, so other people could benefit and use the cream. Hence FMS Skin Cream was named, marketed and distributed by Florence Mary Stewart.
Miss Hilda Jones recalled, “ I wish there was F.M.S in every home, to be used on burns, scalds and bruises etc, it is a fantastic cream for many problems.”
Three weeks before she died Miss Stewart asked Hilda Jones to go on making FMS, revealing the secret recipe.
After making FMS Skin Cream for 40 years Hilda Jones, now aged 75, Miss Jones was concerned that again the secret, known only to her, could be lost when she too would pass away.
Miss Jones chose to pass the secret onto the son of one of her close friends, Don Marsden-Ryle, who had used FMS Cream for various reasons throughout his life. For the following 40 years Marsden-Ryle produced FMS Cream from his home in Devon, England.
A close associate of Marsden-Ryle, Dr. Mary Staggs, used FMS to help thousands of people over 25 years at her busy clinic in Southern Spain, knowing only that FMS was a totally natural blend of herbs and oils, but never knowing the secret formula.
With deteriorating health Marsden-Ryle asked Dr. Staggs to visit him in Devon, as he was no longer able to travel and in 2005 he passed the formula and recipe on again, to Dr Staggs, who took over the protection and production of FMS Cream.
Marsden Ryle is still overseeing the final results of production, with the cream now being used in at least 22 countries around the world.
“If only Dr. Stewart could see what he started for the miners of the Black Country and how someone with a spider bite in Australia or a burn in Bogotá would thank him in person if only he was here.”,says Dr. Mary Staggs.
The ‘Miracle Cream’ F.M.S is still available for the next generation. It is the same formula as developed by Dr. Stewart in the 19th century and is still helping many people in the 21st century.
